Home herbal remedies

Did you know that you can use a number of home remedies that you can have on hand ready to dose when needed.

Garlic Honey (Antibiotic Alternative!)

This is an age-old immune remedy — safe for kids and potent for adults.

How to make it:

  • Peel and lightly crush 6–8 garlic cloves

  • Add to a jar and cover with raw honey

  • Let sit 1–2 days, then use by the spoonful

Garlic is a natural antibiotic, antifungal, and antiviral. Honey soothes tissues and boosts immune cells. Use preventatively or at first signs of illness.

Fire Cider Recipe (Immune Tonic)

Fire cider is a spicy, warming remedy that helps fight colds and clear sinuses.

Ingredients:

  • Apple cider vinegar

  • Garlic, onion, ginger, horseradish, turmeric

  • Optional: hot pepper, lemon, rosemary

  • Raw honey to taste

Let sit for 2–4 weeks, strain, and store. Take 1 Tbsp daily or every few hours during illness.

GAPS-friendly and immune-supportive!

Elderberry Syrup: Immune Support Staple

Elderberries are rich in flavonoids that help the immune system respond to viruses.

Recipe basics:

  • Simmer 1 cup dried elderberries with 3 cups water

  • Add cinnamon, ginger, cloves

  • Strain and mix in raw honey once cooled

Store in the fridge and take daily or when exposed to illness.

Not recommended for use during active high fevers — but great for prevention and early symptoms.

Herbal Teas That Fight Infection

Herbs are powerful allies during illness.

Try:

  • Thyme: antibacterial, good for coughs

  • Chamomile: soothes inflammation, calms the body

  • Licorice root: antiviral, gut healer (use with caution in hypertension)

  • Peppermint: clears sinuses, settles stomach

Steep herbs for 15+ minutes, cover to retain oils, and sip often.

Herbal teas help regulate digestion and soothe an inflamed system.
